Transportation has historically exploded growth in U.S. industry and commerce. Beginning with the Erie Canal and followed by the Transcontinental Railroad, and our National Highway System, strategic government investments in creating national wealth have unleashed innovation and parallel investments in private sector that have caused America to become the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the history of the world.
Crisscrossing our nation with Amtrak 400-mph high speed rail is not another stimulus; but rather the creation of national income-producing wealth directly owned by the American people. Hundreds of thousands of federal jobs would immediately be produced. These jobs would immediately trigger millions of private jobs; and America will be debt-free within 10 years.
