Here in the USA we know America is out nation's name, United States is part of the name because of how much our government is influenced about being a nation of states that are united under one federal government. Other nations have titles like People's Republic or Federation. The USA is one of the only nations to heavily use our government type in our name. In Latin America and South America, América is what both the North and South Continent is called as one, this has caused a "is America a continent or a country argument" in which people say the USA is not America with the only reason being they think their language is right. With all due respect to the Spanish language the USA's proper name is America and we should officially make America our sole name to solve confusion in the world.
