Adopt discipline programs in schools that are research based and enforce positive behaviors.

Created by A.M. on February 12, 2013

I am petitioning that the US Government provide federal funding to schools so that the schools are able to enforce positive behavior.

Second Chance in Arlington, Virginia is "an education, diversion and early intervention program for first-time offenders" that pushes adolescents caught with illegal substances on the right track. Instead of simply punishing the students, Second Chance works with the troubled students to have positive changes in school.

Programs like Second Chance need federal funding. Prevention and intervention is key to keeping children out of the "School-To-Prison Pipeline." Mara Schiff from Florida Atlantic University wants to ensure children do not go straight down the "pipeline" from school to prison. With proper funding, we can help keep adolescents of jail.
