Almost every country in the world is using the metric system. Even the United Kingdom uses the metric system.
The Imperial system is an illogical and arbitrary form of measurement and leads to miscalculations when collaborating with other countries. Failing to switch could result in the US losing its competitive edge in science and technology, as well as continuing to create bilateral trade impediments with other countries.
The metric system is an international standard and would greatly benefit the United States. And the conversion process can create jobs.
