The international system of units is better than our current conventional United States system. One of the many advantages is the factor or power of ten. For math computation the metric system is much easier than the U.S. system which we have been told was going to be phased out and replaced with the international system of units.
Now is the time to get the ball rolling again towards the metric system. Rounding and conversion during the transition will be necessary, but the necessity for these steps disappears when all steps can be done using the international system of units.
Greek prefixes are used for multiples(dekameter, kilometer, megameter, etc..), Latin prefixes for submultiples (centimeter, millimeter, nanometer, etc.)
