Adopt a National Provision to require residential fire sprinklers in all new home construction.

Created by B.A. on January 31, 2014

After the recent loss of nine family members, eight of them children, in a house fire in Western Kentucky, its time to adopt a national fire safety policy to protect our citizens from the ravages of fire. 85% of people die in home fires. We have the worst fire death per capita rate than all industrial nations. It is a national disgrace.
After 40 years in the fire service and carrying countless family members out of their burned homes in body bags, I'm still haunted by those memories. Its replayed almost daily on the evening news, particularly this time of year. Many states have adopted these provisions in the Life Safety Code to require residential fire sprinklers, an initiative begun by President Harry Truman 60 years ago.
Its time to protect our most precious national asset, our families
