to adopt stricter mental health laws in the United States, regarding involuntary commitment.

Created by R.G. on December 16, 2012

"Today with the school shooting in Connecticut, I hold my breath thinking is today the day I will find out my brother finally killed someone. For years, he has spoken of killing people and 'death by cop'. When trying to have him involuntarily committed, he denied being suicidal or homicidal to police and has been free to roam amongst society."

We petition for:
1) Involuntary commitment needs to be evaluated by a minimum of three mental health professional's, rather than law enforcement making the determination.
2) If mental health professional's deem further evaluation is necessary, the period should be a minimum of 14 days.
3) If the mental health professional's deem the patient a threat to any individual and/ or society at large, they should be indefinitely committed.
