Please support the repeal of the ill-conceived NYS SAFEACT. This bill severely limits the 2nd Amendment rights of NYS gun owners and does little to curb violence.
It also places undue burden, both financially and in man hours, on all local municipalities and law enforcement agents, due to the vague, unenforceable laws it created.
It bans many legally owned weapons based purely on the design and essentially turned all owners into criminals over night.
It creates Illegal, Unconstitutional data bases, on all gun owners, future gun purchases and ammunition purchases.
It severely hinders the mental health departments, since it requires anyone who seeks help to be put on a "high Alert" list. This will ultimately stop those who need help, from seeking such help.
