Advocate: campaign finance reform, and legislation or amendment to counteract the Citizens United decision.

Created by A.L. on May 31, 2012

In general, the control over government has shifted away from the electorate at large, and towards special interests. Today there are myriad ways that special interests control the political system, in both the campaign process and during the terms of office. This is creating a government that serves specific special interests well, but that does not serve the best long term interests of the vast majority of citizens of the nation. Step one is to advocate for legislation, possibly by constitutional amendment, that limits corporate person-hood, especially with regards to influencing our political process. Step two is advocacy for comprehensive campaign finance reform, with the goal of influencing elected officials to better serve the needs of the majority of their individual constituents.
