advocate limiting congressional salaries to, at most, four times the annual salary of a full time minimum wage worker.

Created by J.J. on March 01, 2013

I believe that congress is too far removed from the plight of the poor in America. The federal minimum wage is not a wage that most Americans can live on without being in poverty. I believe that a good way to address this issue is to tie congressional salaries to the salaries of full time workers who make the federal minimum wage. They say that "A rising tide raises all boats", and I think that if congressional pay is tied to the minimum wage then congress will have an incentive to ensure that Americans have the ability to earn a wage that allows them to support themselves and their families. This is a way to ensure that the ability of the minimum wage worker to make a living is never far from the minds of congress when they are making financial decisions that impact all Americans.
