advocate that the newly theorized ninth planet, should it be discovered, be named after David Bowie.

Created by R.R. on January 20, 2016

Caltech scientists have theorized the existence of a ninth planet, orbiting beyond Neptune in an unusual manner, and exerting great influence upon neighboring bodies within the outer reaches of our solar system.

Should the planet be discovered, we petition President Obama to advocate that the planet be named "Bowie", after the musician David Bowie.

David Bowie so shaped global culture with his art, and he gave us such profound ways of thinking about space, that he occupies a mythic place in our society.

The music of our time will be remembered in countless ways. It is fitting, when we look to the planets and stars, now and into the future, for music to be part of the story that we tell to each other and to our children.
