Recently the Supreme Court sided with Cable companies that Aereo was illegally retransmitting shows. This assessment is incorrect.
An individual buys an antenna and captures the same signal. That is legal. That person can set up a home server and access it from anywhere to view these shows whenever they want. That is legal. The Aereo customers are simply renting equipment to do the same thing. Aereo is not streaming pay access only channels. They only access FREE channels as provided by the networks.
To broadcast free channels and then claim theft is a double standard.
Aereo is to home antenna, as rental cars are to travel. I can travel for free (walk), but I'd rather pay money to rent a car. Why, because it's a thousand times better! And if the car breaks, I don't have to fix it
