In light of recent comments by a prominent Senator suggesting that the age of the Earth is anything less than scientific fact,
AND in light of some House Members’ insistence on promoting through the Congressional Science Committee comments that denigrate and slander scientific discovery,
AND in light of President Obama's April 13, 2008 comments to the Compassion Forum that he doesn’t presume to know whether the Earth was created in 6 literal days,
And considering the President's role in shaping public awareness and his obligation to promote scientific discovery, innovation, and American competitiveness,
We, the undersigned, ask President Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden to affirm that the age of the Earth is 4.54 Billion years.
