AFFIRM the Great State of MICHIGAN as a proud member of these United States of America.

Created by M.K. on November 16, 2012

Whereas the United States of America is a federation of fifty individual yet unified state governments; and,
Whereas our founding fathers, in declaring independence judiciously declared that “when … it becomes necessary … to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another … (it) requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation;” and,
Whereas our founding fathers further declared that, “ (when) Government becomes destructive … it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it . . .” but that “Prudence … will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes.”
It is therefore resolved that the citizens of the State of Michigan do not believe there is legitimate basis for secession.
