Hamas is currently recognized as a terrorist organization which has ties to Iran. Its position in Gaza makes it a threat to the peace and safety of Israel as they have vowed to ultimately destroy the Jewish state. Emboldened by the recent recognition of the UN of Palestine, Hamas is now seeking to be removed from the list of terrorist organizations. Their behavior and statements indicate that there has been no change in their political objectives and should therefore not be taken off the list. In addition, while they are in power in Gaza, US financial aid should be stopped due to Hamas' place of leadership and potential/real threat to Israel.
