Affix warning labels to religious texts (Bible, Koran, etc) the same as video games, movies, and music.

Created by N.B. on January 16, 2013

In this country, we believe that gun violence is a problem rather than a symptom of a problem. We blame and label video games and movies as harmful to children and young adults.

Yet we have books in the United States that are not only totally unregulated, but filled with more graphic and horrifying violence, prejudice, misogyny, incest, rape, and pro-slavery views than anything that could be found in any game, movie, or TV show. So-called "holy texts," such as the Bible and Koran.

If we truly believe that video games and movies are harmful, why not books? In fact, unlike games or movies, these books have actually inspired real violence and hate, from 9/11 to bombing abortion clinics. If games are harmful to children, then logically, so is the Bible, and we must get them labeled.
