It has become apparent that there is a serious risk of radioactive contamination due to hydrogen build-up in aging tanks storing radioactive sludge at the Hanford Nuclear Power plant in Washington State. It is bad enough that these tanks are leaking an estimated 1000 gallons a year into the ground due to cracks and possibly contaminating ground water but an incident like a hydrogen explosion in these tanks would have devastating effects in and around the area of the power plant and prevailing winds could carry this horrendous debris elsewhere. I would like the Obama administration to make this issue a top priority as it is my understanding that we are on borrowed time and an explosion could happen soon.
