Saeed Abedini is an American citizen, Christian, and pastor who converted from Islam in 2000. He was targeted as an enemy of Iran and Islam because of his conversion and his extensive work in the house church movement in Iran. This work consisted of setting up meeting places for believers to pray and worship as groups, which is something that is not permitted in the strict Islamic country of Iran.
Saeed had made several trips to Iran for the purpose of visiting family. In July 2012, he was arrested while helping build an orphange, and ended up in Evin prison to serve an 8 year sentence.
Saeed Abedini became an American citizen in 2010. As a fellow American, we should support our brother and do whatever it takes to get him back to the country he loved enough to become its citizen
