Our country's near unilateral support of Israel as a proxy state is disgraceful. We must not forget that we too were once struggling against a world power for our independence. As the French did when we were in locked in our war, so should we do for the Palestinians. The fact that we stood against most of the world on the side of Israel in the recent UN vote is disheartening. If America is to be known once again as the nation that wishes to spread freedom and peace through the civilized world, we must stop aiding countries who persecute those who desire it.
