Public Law 98-363 inhibits on the civil rights of recognized adults across the country. In the United States, an eighteen year old has the right to consent to sexual relations, purchase a firearm, purchase tobacco, vote, enlist in the army, drive a car, be married, assume criminal responsibility, and own property. I propose that any individual between the ages of 18-21 may purchase up to 5 fluid millimeters of any liqueur or spirit, 12 oz of beer, or 8 oz of wine. This law allows young people to experiment with alcohol in safe dosages, helps businesses grow, and helps collect more in government revenue, all while restoring the rights to young adults across the country. It is time we make progress and develop a safe knowledge about alcohol usage, instead of a stigma against it.
