ALKALINE WATER FOR AMERICANS OPPOSED TO UNHEALTHY ACIDIC WATER

Created by K.M. on October 12, 2016

The Environmental Protection Agency should implement higher measures to provide Americans with alkaline drinking water in comparison to acidic drinking water. The pH levels in most bottled water and public water are not considered to be alkaline, but acidic. In fact the pH level set by the EPA and adapted by the FDA only requires water to be at a 6.5 pH to be considered safe which is below the neutral pH of 7. Water is acidic in America causing health problems such as high mercury levels and diabetes in Americans, specifically children. The solution to this problem is to implore the EPA to require water to be more alkaline by raising standards for proper pH and considering pH level to be important enough to come off the secondary standards list.
