Since congress and the White House have proven to be unsuccessful in working together on a reasonable budget plan, and have taken our country to the brink of too many fiscal crises, we petition the president to enact a referendum which will allow us (the citizens of the United States of America) to decide what happens with your (All 535 voting members of congress, the vice president and the president of the United States of America) salaries.
We have suffered economic hardships, a degradation of our country's credit rating, and have voiced our discontent towards Washington DC. All the while you collect a very generous salary funded by our tax dollars. We now demand that your salaries go straight to the national debt until the country no longer has one.
