The United States of America is a republic and not a democracy. By having government officials use the term "democracy" you are empowering the uneducated or poorly educated citizens to believe that their vote for president actually determines the president.
In addition, if Obama knows and respects the constitution (as does his staff) then this shouldn't have to be addressed. Make them explain to the people what a republic actually is and why they should focus on who represents them in the house. Educate and don't encourage the use of democracy.
