On September 15, 2014 the Boles Fire in Northern California destroyed a great portion of the historic logging and mining community of Weed, CA, population 2,967. The fire impacted 100 homes, schools, businesses, and a church, as well as the lumber mill, a primary source of employment.
We the undersigned are petitioning for the allocation and release of emergency relief funding to provide temporary housing, as well as for the immediate rebuilding of the elementary school, to allow the community’s youngest members a sense of stability.
Many of these families were evacuated so quickly that they were unable to remove anything from their homes and businesses. We ask that the White House help these citizens through this time of upheaval, so that they may soon recover and live full lives again
