We desire the U.S. government to allocate federal funds in support of the U.S. national rugby team as it prepares to compete in the 2016 Olympics. Rugby hasn't been a sport at the Olympics since 1924. Oddly, the two-time defending champions (1920, 1924) are these United States. Now in both Rugby Union and Rugby sevens (the version to be played at the Olympics) the U.S. has somewhat lagged behind. A grant, from the U.S. government to U.S.A Rugby could fund more in depth recruitment and training of a team worthy of defending champions. In three years, will we walk on to the rugby pitch with pride and prowess, or cowardice and ineptitude? We hope that the White House can find a small way to advocate for the allocation of funds or at the very least stump for the team.
