Allocate a portion of the Defense budget towards funding a National Diplomacy University that is free to attend with admissions based on the merits, skills, and capabilities of the applicants.
The United States has the most powerful, mobile, and highly trained military in the world. If we were to take a portion of the money that we spend on military might and allocate that money to form a university that is focused on training the best diplomats the world has ever known, we would not have as much need to put our soldiers in harms way. We need to seek peace as well as prepare for conflict.
Studies should include Foreign Affairs, Psychology, Sociology, Linguistics, Human Rights, Foreign Customs and Traditions, International Politics, and other related diplomatic fields.
