In the United States today, only the wealthy have school choice. President Obama and many members of Congress send their children to private schools that outperform the local public schools. Poorer residents of this country do not have this same choice. Many hard-working American families must send their children to failing schools without a viable alternative.
President Obama, please give lower-income citizens the same option you've exercised for your daughters, Sasha and Malia. Allow them to take a portion of the money currently given to their local school and use it to pay tuition at another public school, or at a charter or private school. Please help free the thousands of students trapped in failing systems with no hope.
