Allow 17 year olds to vote in the Primary Elections

Created by A.H. on December 02, 2013

We as citizens of Kansas, petition that the state allow registered 17 year olds to vote in all primary elections held in their district if they will be 18 by the general election.

Voting is habitual and by allowing citizens to vote at a younger age while they are still living at home, their parents can give them direction. They would then get the chance to vote on issues that directly effect their communities. Getting in the habit of voting early will increase the likelihood of them voting in future elections which would also increase the voter turnout. Since they are able to vote in the general election, they should be able to vote on the potential candidates as well.

We request that 17 year olds in the state of Kansas have a chance to vote in all state and local primary elections.
