Allow Able-Bodied Retired Veterans to Guard Schools

Created by K.F. on December 27, 2012

For years, every time something like the Sandy Hook Tragedy occurs, the immediate reaction is "We need to stop people from getting guns!" In the case of every major shooting tragedy I'm personally aware of, the gunmen got the guns involved legally. Therefore, adding more laws doesn't make sense to correct the issue. It will only delay it.

I would like to put forward an alternative - place armed, able-bodied retired veterans at the doors of every school. Service-men and -women are already qualified to handle firearms and have experience protecting the innocent. In choosing this, we would allow our already-thin police forces the ability to protect our streets as they should. Obviously, those vets permitted to protect our schools would need to be proven of sound mind and ability.
