In the United States, anyone at least 18 year old can enlist in any branch of the military they please and fight in such places as Iraq and Afghanistan and are trained to safely handle firearms. However, in there own homeland they defended, they cannot purchase a handgun because they are not 21. We have our rights protected by these men and women yet ignore the fact that they cannot defend themselves with a firearm due to their age. We are denying them their constitutional rights when they have so bravely fought for ours. We would like to see active duty and honorably discharged veterans under the age of 21 be able to enjoy their right of owning a handgun, handgun ammunition, and acquiring a permit to carry.
