Allow Active Duty military members to keep their VA loan eligibility after a short sale of their home.

Created by D.H. on November 13, 2012

Too many military members were victims of the mortgage/housing crisis. They were forced to sell their homes due to involuntary reassignments and the sale was typically a short sale. If the mortgage was insured by the VA, the veteran has lost their VA loan eligibility for life.

Let's not punish our military due to the irresponsible policies of our elected leaders. The Obama Administration was quick to pass the Dodd-Frank legislation but has yet to provide any relief to Veterans who lost their homes during the housing debacle. Veterans have few entitlements that are used as often as the VA loan guarantee. Restore the VA loan eligibility for our Veterans who were caught up in the housing crash.
