Allow all board certified Nurse Practitioners to practice independently and equally in every state.

Created by T.N. on January 29, 2014

Currently, many states have different practice laws for nurse practitioners. There a few that allow fully independent practice and there are many were the nurse practitioner has to be supervised by a consulting physician. In Texas, for example, in order to have a supervising physician, we have to pay them. They do nothing more than sign a piece of paper and "then" we are suddenly OK and safe to practice. Yet, you go across the state to New Mexico, Colorado, etc. and you do not have to have any physician involvement to fully practice. Nurse practitioners are educated at the masters and doctoral level, board certified in their specialty area. We continue to be restricted in our ability to fully practice what we are taught. Patients ultimately lose.
