allow all children to receive, as a part of 'well child' care, a baseline heart ultrasound that is covered by insurance

Created by V.J. on May 15, 2013

There are too many reports of children dying from heart disease, a disease that was considered an adult illness. By allowing children to receive a baseline heart ultrasound, parents have the knowledge needed to address this issue, instead of watching their child die from something simple as playing. With the baseline ultrasound under 'well child' health care, the cost would be made affordable for all parents and not those that have the funds to pay. My out of pocket expense for the test for my son was over $523, with insurance. I can afford this but the average family cannot. Under 'well child' care, there would be no out of pocket expense for the parent/guardian. All expenses are paid by the insurance. My insurance does not cover all, so I was responsible for the difference.
