Allow American citizens the right to opt out of Social Security so we can decide how to spend our money.

American citizens should have the right to opt out of the Social Security system. It is not right to force people to have to retire through the government. The whole system is scary to anyone below 40 that we are paying in and might not even benefit from the system when we are that age. The government continually borrows from Social Security and has run it dry. The money in Social Security belongs to the people, not the government. All money borrowed should have been paid back with interest, but will suffice to simply be paid back. I am not suggesting that the system has to go away, but simply that people should be given a choice. If it is a good system, people will choose to be in it. I personally like my chances to prepare for my own retirement with personal investments.
