allow American citizens to volunteer with the Veterans Affairs administration to help reduce the backlog of claims.

Created by K.S. on May 21, 2014

Given the current fiscal situation, it is probably not possible for the VA to hire enough people to reduce the current backlog of claims. However, American citizens may be willing and able to volunteer their time to assist in reducing this backlog. Volunteers could be trained in key aspects of of the process. The VA could continue to have oversight and final approval, but volunteers may be able to process forms, meet with veterans, coordinate with doctors, or other tasks. The costs to the VA would be in training the volunteers.
