allow American expatriates who work for foreign employers overseas to contribute to their Roth IRA's.

Created by V.S. on November 11, 2012

With the growing number of Americans finding employment opportunities outside of the USA, American expatriates are responsible for planning and funding their retirement. One way for us to do that is to contribute to a Roth individual retirement account (IRA). American expatriates remit thousands of dollars back to the USA and some of those funds could go into Roth IRA's. Why? Because American expatriates have already paid taxes on those funds in their home countries. Unfortunately, the IRS states that it must be "US-earned income." We are asking the IRS to allow working American expatriates to contribute to their Roth IRA's. American expatriates working for foreign companies overseas should be allowed to contribute a portion of their after-tax income to their Roth IRA's.
