Allow the American People to vote on legislation that directly affects Legislators

Created by A.C. on September 27, 2011

Several times in the past few years, the issue has come up whether Legislators should be paid if the rest of the Federal Government is furloughed due to Congress' inaction on approving a budget. A bill was suggested and was not passed by Congress. Furthermore, in order for members of Congress to receive a raise, Congress must vote on it.

Of course, Congress always votes in their own favor, as greed is human nature. We are proposing to allow the American People, for whom these Legislators work, to cast their own votes on issues such as the aforementioned that directly affect members of Congress.

Allowing the American People to vote on such issues will add another check and balance that was overlooked by our forefathers, and will help to prevent greed from overtaking our Nation's Capital.
