allow the American public to protect itself from terrorist threats and hate groups within America

The fact is that terrorist cells and other hate groups have grown over the years. The world is watching us, and if we give up our right to bear arms or go too much to the extreme, that will give the hate groups and terrorists more opportunity to take advantage of the American people. There would be more carnage in the United States if this happened from these factions. It is better to show strength than weakness. The American people are not here to overthrow the government, but to protect themselves from unlawful and violent acts by misguided people.
