Many Americans will now have to acquire health insurance policies under the new law. As one of the choices of health plans to choose from, we should be allowed to buy into the Medicare health care system.
Those who wish to purchase health insurance through private industry may still do so. But for the Americans who wish to take advantage of the possible lower cost of buying directly into Medicare's Health Insurance Program, that option should be available.
Medicare has a lower percentage of its budget paying for administrative costs than private insurers, leaving a larger percentage to provide health care to recipients. If this trend continues, Medicare becomes the desirable choice for many people.
And we should have the opportunity to choose the absolute best plan for our families.
