Allow Americans to voluntarily opt out of Social Security, so they are never forced to pay for or receive any benefits.

Created by D.F. on June 27, 2013

Responsible and free people have the right to control their own retirement planning, safe from government control and coercion. Many economists, accountants, and voters understand that the long term viability of Social Security is highly questionable. Congress has raided the SS Trust Fund, filled it with worthless IOUs, and at any time, Congress can pass a law removing their obligation to pay back these IOUs, or can simply eliminate Social Security. With unfunded liabilities totaling over $220 TRILLION, there is no practical way to pay for the massive retirement to come and a dwindling worker to retiree ratio of 3 to 1. Let workers voluntarily decide to keep the 12.4% of their wages confiscated by the government, opt out of the system, and accept the consequences of their own actions.
