People take the presidential elections seriously, as the most important political choice they make, only to find the president is really powerless to enact his ideas without congress. While it is very reasonable to have checks and ballances such as congress provides, it also seems reasnable to trust the president with a little more power. It becomes unessesarily complex if people have to keep voting for members of congress and the house, just to allow their presidential vote to be valid. Three ideas per term seems reasonable, and we will know how to handle situations where an idea is obviously not a good one. If we trust the president with the button to initiate or prevent a nuclear strike, we should be able to trust him with three good ideas per term without congressional approval.
