This petition is pertinent primarily to our Armed Forces current enlistment policies. In many cases, asthmatics aren't allowed to join the military because of their physical disability, despite the fact they may be more than intellectually qualified than their choice of branch's ASVAB score requires. Positions (such as Judge Advocate, to name one) are often barred from asthmatics because of their ailment. In many cases asthma can be controlled or prevented by use of medication or an inhaler and wouldn't prevent itself as a problem, even during Basic Training or PT. In conclusion, patriotic asthmatics are barred from military service because of their condition. Asthma wouldn't be a problem if asthmatics were kept in non-combat positions and basic medication was available.
