allow bathroom access to voters in Miami-Dade county Florida

Created by E.N. on April 13, 2014

The Miami-Dade County Elections Department has made national news with their decision to force voters standing in line at polling places to forego using the restroom. Historically, they have had lines in which people waited for up to six hours to cast a ballot. Anyone who has taken a car trip knows this is an untenable position.

Should this edict be permitted to stand, it could provide standing for other states to enact similar measures in an effort to suppress a portion of the voting populace.

We petition the federal government to force them to withdraw this decision to negatively impact every citizen and in particular discriminate against their disabled voters. We ask that the spirit of HAVA and the ADA be upheld and this decision be forcibly revoked.
