Allow borrowers to refinance student loans at or below the current market rate for mortgages.

Created by L.K. on November 04, 2011

Allow graduates to refinance student loans at or below market rates. It will make payment more affordable and will allow graduates to avoid forbearance and default by applying market forces.

Many students who have borrowed in the past ten years have loans that are locked in at rates from 6–8.5%. Current lending rates for similar sums are significantly more affordable than we are paying on our student loans. Student refinance rates should be closer to 4.0%, the rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage.

Support and allow the refinancing of student loans.
