Hatteras island needs to be a separate county from Nags Head, Manteo and the Northern beaches. Bonner bridge and highway 12 are on life support and have been severely neglected for decades. We need our own county seat and elected officials to help make decisions to make sure there is a future for this island. At the hearing in DC for beach access our own congressman said, " It is like two separate counties, Hatteras Island and the Northern beaches." Decades of neglect regarding urgent infrastructure problems have left Hatteras Island's highway, closed beaches and bridge a disaster. In order to assure a future for this island it is critical to have our own county to address the urgent issues we face. Please join us in this fight for survival.
