Given the historical and current differences in make-up, thought process and daily life of the citizens of the City of Chicago and the rest of the State of Illinois the logical answer to the secessionist movement being promoted by non-Chicagoans is to secede in turn (from the state) and remain a part of the United States. If the State of Illinois successfully secedes it would devastate the lives of all Chicagoans. Signing this petition would be an open rejection by the citizens of Chicago against the movement of the rest of the State. Plainly: Chicago wants to be excluded from Illinois' petition to secede and we ask to be retained by the government of the United States of America.
