Most children know how to make a decision like this by this age. It should be their right to because in some states you have to have both parents raising a child. The kid has to go through with whatever the parents want because the law states that its the child's right to see both parents but not if the child doesn't want to see a parent. A lot of times there is a good reason. Let a child choose before they end up going through emotional or physical pain due to a parent's actions. Letting a child choose could stop something before it gets worse. Understandably, one parent could try to influence a child against another so a child should be questioned without the presence of the parent in question.
