Allow companies to deduct as expenses only salaries/compensation paid to employees located in the United States

Created by B.J. on October 17, 2011

Encourage employers to keep jobs in the U.S. by not allowing expense deductions for salaries/compensation paid outside the U.S. This would encourage companies to keep jobs here by countering the outsourcing savings against the increased taxable earnings.

Adding the four words “in the United States” to the end of 26 U.S.C. sec. 162(a)(1) would accomplish this.

Corporate profits are at an all-time high. The top 1% of Americans now controls 42% of the nation's wealth, yet the middle-class American dream is being destroyed by outsourcing jobs in order to avoid paying fair salaries and to avoid responsible stewardship of the environment.

Should this cause a company to leave the U.S., capitalism would dictate that a new company would emerge to take its place.
