I am submitting this petition to honor the history that I myself have fought to protect and preserve. It has been twisted by peoples misuse and misinterpretation of a historical icon to this countries history and its time for a change for the better. How can a flag that over 30,000 black men on record fought and some died for, be a racist symbol. Many blacks, both free and of their own will, joined the Confederate Army to fight for their beloved southern home as well as Oriental, Mexican, Spanish men and Native American Indians. In the short of things the battle flag is just that, a battle flag used in the civil war to which the South fought the War to repel Northern aggression and invasion. History 101. Heritage not Hate!!! Please to choose to honor the fallen of the 13 Southern States.
