The Civil War was the bloodiest war America's ever fought, and it culminated with black people being recognized as human beings instead of property. No one wants to re-fight that war or to condemn it. However, it's time to let the South go.
-The South takes in far more federal money than it pays out. Ending the union would save the USA approx. $88.9 billion a year, reducing the current federal deficit by nearly 20%.
-The South opposes labor and environmental protections that the US favors. This difference would be enough to torpedo a free-trade agreement were the South a foreign country; therefore, they shouldn't get the trading privileges states of the US have.
-The South drags down the US's test scores. Business and academia need to see that most of the US is training tomorrow's workers
